Suspect leads police on foot pursuit thru Independence Kansas prom walk-in line

Some excitement took place near the Independence, Kansas prom Saturday evening. Police say at about 6:24 pm Independence Police Department (IPD) officers attempted to make a warrant arrest on the 500 block of N. Peter Pan.

Police identified the man at the scene of a fight and later located him on the 500 Block of N. Peter Pan. As officers spoke with the man he became agitated and backed away. The man turned and fled, leading police on a foot chase that crossed W. Main, wove through a line of vehicles waiting for the Prom Walk-in, and then ended in the 2800 Block of W. Main where the man was taken into custody with the help of the Kansas Highway Patrol and the deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The fleeing man was identified as Chicago Bull Elias, 24 years-old of Independence. Elias was arrested for vehicle burglary, theft, and interference with a Law Enforcement Officer.
