Special election breaks tie in Carterville City Council race

After a special election, Carterville, Missouri, voters have re-elected Judy Martin to the City Council for Ward 2.

Unofficial results show Martin won with 51 votes, compared to 39 for Terri Arterburn.

The special election was held because the two tied in the April 4th ballot.

Due to the tied vote count in Ward 2, both candidates were given the option to either decide the outcome by “lot” such as a coin-toss or by holding a special election to determine the winner.

Jasper County Clerk Charlie Davis says they will recount the votes on Friday when they certify the election.
