Joplin Schools announces new Dean of Students at Stapleton

JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin Schools is pleased to announce the promotion of Randi Barkley as Dean of Students at Stapleton Elementary.
Barkley has been an employee of Joplin Schools since 2014, and has spent time as a first grade teacher and a fourth grade teacher at Irving Elementary. She has served on various building and district-level committees, including building curriculum, district curriculum, building steering, superintendent’s forum and focus group, and the acting principals team.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Masters of Science in Elementary Education with a certification in curriculum and instruction, both from Missouri State University.
In 2022, Barkley received an Educational Specialist degree in Administration from William Woods University.
“I’m honored to join the Stapleton team,” said Barkley. “I’m looking forward to building relationships with the students, staff, and community. I can’t wait to be a part of the great work already in progress there.”
Previously, Stapleton Elementary shared an Assistant Principal with Soaring Heights Elementary.
Joplin Schools created a Dean of Students position as a way to assist with typical administrative duties in one location, work on school improvement strategies with the instructional staff, and to allow internal candidates for administrative positions to gain valuable support from the building principal as they work towards advancing their leadership skills.
