Kidnapping charges filed against Neosho man after AMBER Alert

A man from Neosho has been charged with felony kidnapping after an AMBER Alert was issued for a 7-year-old girl from Sarcoxie Saturday night.

Court documents show that 23-year-old Matthew Honeycutt had permission to take the young girl to pick up a dog ten minutes away, but did not have permission from the young girl’s mother to take her to Oklahoma, where he had her for six hours.

The affidavit says Honeycutt never picked up the dog and that he is not relative of the girl and had no right to take the girl across state lines without parental consent, which he reportedly did not have.

Honeycutt was last being held in the Jasper County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
