Two-vehicle crash north of Springfield kills one driver, injures the other

The Missouri Highway Patrol says a head-on crash on Route H near Farm Road 48 six miles north of Springfield in Greene County around 10 Saturday night killed one man and injured another.

The Patrol says the wreck killed 54-year-old John S. Smith of Pleasant Hope and caused moderate injuries to 51-year-old Gregory A. Lenox of Buffalo.

Both men were transported to Mercy Springfield.

Smith was pronounced dead at that hospital.

The wreck marked the 20th fatality for SW Missouri Highway Patrol Troop D so far this year.
