Granby has new Police Chief

Granby has a new police chief.

He is Rico Engberg who spent two decades working with the Newton County Sheriff's Office and the SW Missouri Drug Task Force.

More recently, Engberg was a school resource officer in the East Newton School District.

In the past, Engberg volunteered at Crowder College teaching Defensive Tactics to Upward Bound Students.

In 2011, as a Newton County Deputy, Engberg was awarded the State Humanitarian of the Year with his work with a Non-Profit Organization for Abused Children.

In 2014, he was awarded the MADD Hero Award for the most DWI Arrest sin Newton County.

Granby had been looking for a new chief since Jake Kelly left the position late last year.
