History Day today at MSSU

JOPLIN, Mo –History Day hosted by Missouri Southern’s Social Sciences Department returns to campus today in the Billingsly Student Center’s Ballroom.
This year’s contest theme is “Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas.” 176 students from 16 different schools will compete in the categories of Website, Paper, Exhibit, Documentary, and Performance, with each category having both a junior and senior division, as well as group and individual competitions.
Participating schools include College Heights Christian School, Carthage Junior High, Carthage High School, Nevada Middle School, Carl Junction Junior High, Neosho Christian School, Carl Junction High School, Wheaton High School, Joplin East Middle School, Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School, Webb City Junior High, Joplin North Middle School, Joplin South Middle School, Neosho High School, Neosho Junior High School, and area home schools.du.
This competition relies on more than 30 volunteer judges from both the community and current MSSU students. Those who are interested in getting involved in History Day in the future, whether as a judge, volunteer, or area public school teacher, contact Bill Fischer at Fischer-W@mssu.edu.
An awards ceremony will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
