Freeman Hospital garners awards for heart attack treatment

What happens when patients come into Freeman Hospital with heart attack symptoms, according to Freeman Cardiologist Dr. Darwin Jeyaraj:  “Anyone who comes in with chest pain or any kind of chest symptoms, not feeling too well, gets an immediate EKG, and if they are having a heart attack, we have a protocol that gets immediately activated.”

Freeman Heart & Vascular Institute has garnered multiple awards over the years for its door to balloon response time of just 45 minutes – half the national average of 90 minutes.

February is American Heart Month.
