Body identified; Two men charged with 1st degree involuntary manslaughter

An investigation conducted by the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office that resulted in the discovery of a human body in a rural part of the county has led to charges being filed against two men.

On February 8, a search warrant was served at the location, and the body of a female was found buried on the property.

Following an autopsy, the body was identified as that of Ginger Lynn Shumaker.

Cedar County Sheriff James McCrary said on Friday two men charged are:

* Shawn Wickstrom of Stockton; and
* Christopher Applebee of Eldorado Springs

Both face charges of 1st degree involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and abandonment of a corpse.

Charges were filed by Cedar County Prosecuting Attorney Ty Gaither.

Bond has been set at $200,000 cash. Both subjects are in custody.
