Joplin man wanted in connection to local shooting

On Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 4:44 am the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of a shooting at 909 S. Monroe Avenue in Joplin. Officers responded to the scene and located an adult male who had been shot. Officers began rendering aid until METS and Joplin Fire Personnel arrived on scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. The suspect, Adam E. Kastler of Joplin, had fled the scene before officers arrived.
Detectives with the Joplin Police Department are continuing to actively investigate this incident and are seeking the assistance of the general public in locating a person of interest. Detectives are trying to locate Adam E. Kastler, age 34, of Joplin. Kastler was imprisoned for assault in the second degree, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of drugs. Kastler was released on a $10,000 bond despite a judge noting “that the defendant poses a danger to the community”.
Kastler has active felony warrants out of Newton County for Failure to Appear as well as a Joplin Municipal warrant for Failure to Appear.
Kastler should be considered armed and dangerous and to use extreme caution if located. If you know or have information on his whereabouts, please contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.
