Pacemaker surgery at Freeman saves life of 15 year old female student

Thirty years ago, healthcare worker Amy Queen became the youngest patient at age 15, to receive a pacemaker, put in by Freeman’s Cardiologist, Dr. John Cox.

What happened?  Queen told Newstalk KZRG:  “I was getting ready for school.  My dad heard a loud thud and found me on the floor in the kitchen.  My parents called 9-1-1 and when the ambulance arrived, they had to revive me, then get me to the hospital.”

The surgery saved her life.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the U-S.

February is American Heart Month.
