Pitt State mourns loss of student after fatal accident

Pittsburg State University is mourning the loss of a student who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday near Fredonia, Kansas.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Highway 400, about a mile south of Fredonia, when 18-year-old Taylor Chrisman’s vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head-on.
The University says Taylor, of Wichita, was studying at PSU with the goal of becoming a nurse. She earned Dean’s Honor Roll her first semester.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Taylor’s family, with her friends, and with her classmates,” President Dan Shipp said. “We’re saddened at the loss of a life so young and full of promise, and we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences on behalf of the entire Pittsburg State University community.”
“On behalf of all of her friends and family, we greatly appreciate her passing being acknowledged and shared – along with a little bit on how much she impacted those around her,” says friend and PSU student, Megan Guthrie.
