Grove man killed in head-on collision near Baxter

A man from Grove, Oklahoma, was killed after a head-on crash Monday afternoon in southeast Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened on Highway 69 Alternate, west of Baxter Springs, when 20-year-old Trey Cunningham crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck.

Cunningham was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

His passenger, 21-year-old Valeria Lerma, of Miami, Oklahoma, suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the truck, 51-year-old Shannon Taft, of Baxter Springs, suffered serious injuries.
