Man from Springfield, Missouri used his birth certificate to rob a bank while wearing an ankle monitor

A man from Springfield, Missouri pleaded guilty in court to robbing a Bank of America branch in Springfield last summer while wearing an ankle monitor related to an earlier offense and using his own birth certificate as his demand note.
Reports say 30 year old Michael Loyd walked into the bank and handed a teller his birth certificate with a note written on the back that read, “Give Your Money Now. Don’t Say Anything. I Have A Partner Outside.”
The Springfield native said he committed the crime to “prove a point” to his lover though police were unable to determine what point he was trying to prove.
The teller handed Loyd just over $750. He took the money and his birth certificate then drove away in a Dodge pickup truck that belonged to his roommate. While he was making his getaway he saw police approaching the scene of the crime as they were responding to the robbery. This frightened the 30 year old so much he threw all the money along with his birth certificate and ID out the window of his moving car.
Shortly after the heist the roommate’s boyfriend altered police the Loyd was the one that committed the crime and told authorities where they can find him.
Police were able to locate him at his home in Lazy Acres Mobile Home Park where they arrested him without incident.
