Riverton youth named Kansas poster contest winner

9-year-old Hadley Holmes of Riverton is one of the three southeast regional winners in the 2022 Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day poster contest.

A winner in the age 8-to-10-year group, Holmes received a bicycle from Kansas Turnpike Authority and a helmet donated by Safe Kids Kansas during a presentation at the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) office at Columbus.

A total of 497 Kansas kids ages 5 to 13 took the time to think about safety and participate in the contest.

Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day is a nationwide effort to increase roadway safety and reduce all traffic fatalities.
