Student organizes donation drive for Pittsburg’s Wesley House

Pittsburg State University Social work student Lauren Stiles has plans to help people stay warm this winter.
She has organized a donation drive to benefit those who seek services at Wesley House.
Wesley House is an outreach mission of First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, Kansas.
It was established in 1982 to address the needs of low income families in the area.
The mission of Wesley House is to provide a safe, welcoming place for individuals and families of Crawford County to seek assistance, advocacy, education and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
“The past two winters have broken Kansas records with how brutal and cold it was, and this year is not looking much better,” Stiles explained.
According to Tina Hill, case manager for homeless services, Wesley House is in need winter items such as hats, blankets, and coats along with hygiene products.
Wesley House is accepting donations to prepare for imminent winter weather.
Donation boxes are set up at Russ Hall and CHCSEK clinics.
Donations will be accepted from Nov. 18 and will be presented to Wesley House on Nov. 19.
