Social Work student hosts fundraiser for Senior Citizen Center
PITTSBURG, Kansas – Pittsburg State University Student Luz Cuevas is hosting a fundraiser to bring awareness to Area Agency on Aging — Region X, a nonprofit senior citizen center in Joplin.
“I chose this agency because research shows older adults are safer and healthier when they stay social and actively participate in the community,” said Cuevas.
Area Agency on Aging – Region X provides activities and events for older adults to go out and join. She wants to raise $500 to donate by raffling off gift baskets. There are three gift baskets being raffled off meaning three winners.
The first basket, “Bullseye Deluxe Gift Set,” valued at $65, comes with a fun dart board and dart games with delicious snacks.
The second basket, “It’s Football Time Gift Pail,” is a pail bucket for any football fan! It comes with snacks and games for halftime shows.
The third basket, “Self Care Gift Set,” comes with gift certificates, candles, blanket, and other pamper items.
This money will go towards bringing more fun events for older adults to participate.
