Fire destroys home in Brooklyn Heights Saturday

Fire destroyed a 120-year-old home in Brooklyn Heights just west of Carthage on Saturday.

The call came in around 3:45 p.m. to the Carthage Fire Department.

Other departments including fire units from Duenweg, Oronogo and Carterville also responded.

There was reportedly no on home at 233 County Road 180 at the time of the fire.

The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. There were no injuries but two cats may have been lost.

The Carthage Fire Chief tells NewsTalk KZRG the State Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
