A major chain of truck stops in the U-S will pay more than 121-thousand dollars in penalties after being accused of violating the federal Clean Water Act.
Pilot Travel Centers is the largest chain of truck stops in North America.
The Environmental Protection Agency says the chain regularly poured pollutants into rivers and streams near their travel plazas, with the most serious violations occurring at Pilot locations in Warrenton, Missouri, and Gretna, Nebraska.
Water levels near those two travel plazas consistently tested high for E-Coli, ammonia, and other pollutants, according to the E-P-A.
