Two dead following head-on collision in Newton County

Two people were killed after a head-on crash in Newton County Thursday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened on Highway 86, one mile west of Newtonia, when a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Diania F. Bittner of Neosho crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck driven by 66-year-old Jane A. Taylor of Stark City.

The report says Bittner was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor died from her injuries at a local hospital.

This is Troop D’s 61st and 62nd fatalities for 2022.
