Baxter Springs man killed in one-vehicle accident

A man from Baxter Springs was killed in a one-vehicle crash in south-central Kansas Thursday afternoon.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers say 72-year-old Billy D. Watson Jr., was driving west on U.S. Highway 166 east of Arkansas City when he side swiped a street sweeper and lost control striking a road mill.

Watson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers do not believe speeding was a factor in the crash.

No highway workers were injured.
