Man from Coffeyville to face jury trial in infant rape case

A man charged with the alleged rape of an infant will stand trial in southeast Kansas later this year.

The Coffeyville Police Department says 57-year old Archie Leon Cannon will face a jury trial on December 20th.

Cannon is charged with a single count of rape of a victim when the offender is 18 or older and the victim is under age 14 and one count of aggravated  intimidation of a witness/victim.

The child was reportedly only four months old at the time of the alleged rape and reportedly had to undergo surgery as a result of the incident.

Judge Jeffrey Gossard denied the request to reduce Cannon's bail from $100,000 down to $5,000 due to the nature of Cannon’s charges, according to court records.
