Baxter shooting suspect in custody

A Southeast Kansas shooting suspect is in custody following a police pursuit in the Springfield area late Tuesday night.

Shawn Houston, age 38, had been wanted on an outstanding Attempted Murder warrant, after Cherokee County Sheriff’s Investigators responded to a shooting in rural Baxter Springs Monday morning.

Just after 11:00 p.m., law enforcement in Greene County Missouri attempted to stop the vehicle Houston was in, when it fled and eventually wrecked.

Houston was apprehended and is currently being held in the Greene County Jail pending extradition back to Kansas.
