On Thursday morning, Joplin Police officers responded to 1116 S. McKinley Avenue for a suspect who had active felony warrants.
19-year-old Hunter R. Sease, of Webb City, was located at this address and refused to exit the home.
After numerous attempts to get him to peacefully surrender were unsuccessful, JPD officers and on-duty SWAT team members deployed a chemical munition into the residence.
Sease surrendered a short time later. He was transported to the Joplin City Jail where he remains in custody with no bond.
Sease continued to flee into Joplin and crashed into a utility pole at 7th and Pearl Avenue. As he was being taken into custody, he assaulted another Joplin PD officer.
He was arrested following that incident for Assault in the First Degree (special victim), Assault in the Third Degree (special victim), Assault on a Police Animal, Property Damage in the First Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Driving While Intoxicated.
An additional charge of Resisting Arrest is being sought from today’s incident.
