Pittsburg man arrested on child rape allegations

A man from Pittsburg has been arrested and now faces charges of rape and indecent liberties with a child. Read the full press release below:

On April 8, 2022, a report was made to the Pittsburg Police Department involving the possible sexual assault of a 14-year-old child.

Two separate incidents were reported to have occurred at two different locations within the city limits of Pittsburg, Kansas; both incidents having occurred at the end of March 2022, just days apart.

Detectives launched an investigation that led to the positive identification of the suspect in these offenses as 22-year-old Oscar Hernandez Lopez.

This investigation revealed corroborating evidence to support the victim’s claims.

On April 11, 2022, detectives took Oscar Hernandez Lopez into custody without incident and transported him to the police department for questioning.

Lopez was later transported to the Crawford County Jail, where he was booked in on one count of rape and one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Lopez is being held without bond.
