Two men arrested after Thursday-night incident in Pittsburg

Two men from Pittsburg have been booked following an incident Thursday night in that city.

A 19-year-old man told police he refused to give two men a ride just before 8:30 p.m. outside of The Break at 607 N. Broadway.

At that point, the victim said one of the men allegedly exposed a handgun and forced him to give them a ride. He did that but intentionally drove his vehicle into a ditch on West 4th Street and fled on foot.

He then ran to a nearby house where he called police.

The two men drove away in the victim’s vehicle. Deputies pursued them until the vehicle became disabled in a field near 130th and 575th in Crawford County.

Authorities used a drone to locate one of the men who fled on foot.

Pittsburg Police arrested 23-year-old William Steig and 25-year-old Damian Capps of Pittsburg.

Both are charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, felony theft, interference with law enforcement and other charges.

Steig and Capps are each being held on $53,000 bond.
