Kansas Leadership Center to stop in Carthage on listening tour

The Kansas Leadership Center (KLC) will make a stop in Carthage on Monday.

In an effort to address the systemic challenges that make it hard to start and grow local businesses in rural communities, The KCL  has embarked on a two-week listening tour with stops in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska.

The tour marks the opening phase of ‘Heartland Together,’ a partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation (EMKF) to strengthen support for entrepreneurs in these four Midwestern states.

Stephanie Howard, director of business and economic development, Carthage Water & Electric Plant; Ed O’Malley, president and CEO, Kansas Leadership Center; and Racquel Thiesen, director of community partnerships, Kansas Leadership Center, will speak at 1 p.m. this Monday, March 28 at Carthage Water & Electric at 627 W. Centennial.

The Carthage event is free and open to the public.

KLC facilitators are conducting listening sessions in more than 20 communities to elevate the conversation of healthy entrepreneurial ecosystems and build local civic engagement capacity.
