One-vehicle accident claims life of Carl Junction woman

A woman from Carl Junction has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash in Joplin early Sunday morning. Read the full press release below:

On Sunday, March 20th at 3:04 am, the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications  Center received a 911 call of a traffic crash at State Highway 171 and north St. Louis Avenue involving a single vehicle. Officers with the Joplin Police Department, Joplin Fire Department, METS Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

During the investigation, it was found that a 2019 Nissan Sentra was being driven westbound on State Highway 171. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a stoplight support pole.

The driver, identified as Rebecca McAllister, 48, of Carl Junction, Missouri, was transported to a local hospital where she later died. She was the only occupant of the vehicle. Next of kin has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation by the Joplin Police Department Major Crash Team. Further updates may be released as they become available.
