U.S. Marshals Museum CEO resigns as he awaits assault trial

.FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - The head of the U.S. Marshals Museum has resigned months after he was arrested and charged with pointing a gun at utility workers near his home.

The museum in Fort Smith, Arkansas, near the Oklahoma border announced on Friday the resignation of Patrick Weeks as its CEO.

Museum officials say they've retained a firm to conduct a national search for his replacement.

The search is expected to take about four months. Weeks had been on administrative leave since December after he was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.

A July jury trial is scheduled.
