Oronogo man suffers serious injuries in early-morning accident

An Oronogo man was taken to the hospital this morning after a crash on Missouri Highway 43, about 10 miles north of Joplin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells NewsTalk KZRG the crash occurred at 5:42 a.m. when a northbound 2002 Volkswagen Beetle driven by 31-year-old Zachary S. Barlett of Oronogo went onto the gravel shoulder of the road and the driver lost control.

The car then skidded back onto the roadway, slid off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

The Highway Patrol says Barlett, who was not wearing a safety device, suffered serious injuries.

He was transported to a Joplin hospital for treatment.
