City of Lamar to close Aquatic Center
City leaders to mull over repair plans . . . .

The city of Lamar has decided to close its Aquatic Center due to mechanical problems.
City Administrator Rusty Rives says the closing will be effective as of March 1st.
Rives said in a news release the council this week reviewed a report prepared by Water’s Edge Aquatic Design of Lenexa, Kansas that detailed problems with the three pools at the park (leisure, competition and indoor) and recommended a list of repairs or rebuilding options, along with estimated costs.
The Council will have further meetings to develop plans for the Aquatic Park which first opened to the public in 1996.
The park is located at 1903 Walnut St. in Lamar.
