KDOT begins work on four-lane expressway on U.S. 166

A major roadwork project is now underway in Cherokee County in southeast Kansas.
KDOT – The Kansas Department of Transportation – has started work on a four-lane expressway on U.S.166.
The four-lane stretch will run between intersections with U.S. 400 near Baxter and K-26 south of Galena.
The first stage of the project is not expected to have any impact on drivers.
The entire project should be complete in May 2024.
