Neosho man charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action

NEOSHO, Mo. – A Neosho man has been charged with Murder in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action after the shooting death of Alexis Guajardo Perez on November 9 of this year.

29-year-old Cameron Stotts of Neosho was charged on the two-count complaint.

According to a Probable Cause Statement, Perez was inside Stott’s residence at 616 S. College Street in Neosho when the crime occurred. A third party was present in the home and was a witness to the shooting.

The witness observed Stotts point a firearm towards Perez and fire three shots.

After shooting, Stotts reportedly placed the body in the basement of the residence.

Two to three days after the shooting, Stotts allegedly solicited the help of the witness to remove the body and drive it in a vehicle to an area in Ottawa County Oklahoma. The witness said the body was laid beside the roadway and then rolled down an embankment.

The case will be prosecuted by the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office.
