$4 million judgment against Blue Springs School District in transgender case

$4 million dollars: That's how much a school district in the Kansas City area will have to pay because a transgender student wasn't allowed to use the boys' locker rooms and restrooms.

That was the decision made on Monday by a jury in Jackson County regarding an accusation of discrimination made against the Blue Springs School District.

The student had amended his birth certificate to reflect his new name and gender.

Even though the state recognized his identity as male, it still denied him access to the boys' locker room or restrooms.
