Several trees to be removed at MSSU campus

Four dead, one pushing up important campus sidewalk

Sometimes you have to get rid of something old to make things better.

At Missouri Southern, that goes for trees.

Missouri Southern is working collaboratively with a landscape architect to identify trees native to Missouri that will thrive on the campus.

At the same time, a sweet gum tree near the flagpole at Southern unfortunately must be removed because its roots are pushing up a sidewalk, making them a danger to everyone, especially those with mobility challenges.

Also set to be cut down: Three dead coniferous trees in front of the Reynolds Hall Science building and a dead elm tree on the campus oval.

The R.E. Smith company is in charge of the tree removal at MSSU.
