One dead after crash on 7th Street west of Joplin

A fatal crash just west of Joplin has claimed the life of a man from Moundville, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 3:40 PM Wednesday when 32-year-old Darrell L. “JR” Shoemaker was traveling north in his car on Central City Road and attempted to cross the westbound lanes of 7th Street.

That’s when he collided with a truck driven by 59-year-old Robert D. McDaniel of Independence, Kansas.

Shoemaker was pronounced dead at the scene. McDaniel was taken to a Joplin hospital with moderate injuries.
