By a slim margin, 'Proposition Action' has passed in the city of Joplin.

With 1,705 'YES' votes (51.59%) to 1,611 'NO' votes, this 3.125% use tax will be placed on items purchased from out-of-state vendors and shipped to a Joplin location.

The use tax only applies to items for which you don’t pay city sales tax.

It's estimated to bring in over $3.5 million to the city each year to accomplish six goals like improving community appearance and addressing homelessness.
