The lack of high-speed internet access in Missouri is a problem lawmakers have been fighting to improve for a while.
A special House interim committee discussing the expansion of broadband internet around the state is holding a hearing Monday.
Committee chairman, Representative Louis Riggs of Hannibal, wants the state to ramp up its efforts – soon.
Riggs also wants to boost digital literacy.
He says even though people might have the access, many don't understand how to make the access work in a way that is going to help them.
