Oklahoma coronavirus-related hospitalizations above 1,600

The number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations in Oklahoma remains above 1,600 amid a virus surge that health officials say is due to the highly contagious delta variant.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Friday reported a three-day average of just over 1,600 hospitalizations.

That's up from 1,487 one week ago and a three-day average of 749 on Aug. 2.

The number of hospitalizations last topped 1,600 in late January of this year.
