Cardinals’ Molina to retire after 2022 season

2022 will be the final MLB season for St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.

“Well, it’s enough,” Molina laughed. “I mean, 19 years is a long career, and my position is a tough one. Right now, I would like to do my best, and I’m going to train my body hard, but it’s hard to keep up with this game to a high level right now when you’re 39.”

Molina just agreed to a $10 million, one-year contract to stay in St. Louis for his final year.

The surefire Hall of Famer broke into the majors with the Cardinals in 2004 and never left. The 10-time All-Star helped the team win the World Series in 2006 and 2011.
