Joplin man killed in crash on Highway 43

A man from Joplin has died after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 43 north of Seneca.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened at 7:30 PM Tuesday night when a car crossed the centerline and hit an SUV driven by 55-year-old Ilyas J. Qawishabazz head-on.

Qawishabazz was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The highway patrol report says two people in the other vehicle, 29-year-old Jessica Oliver, of Seneca, and 39-year-old Matthew Beamer, of Joplin, suffered serious injuries.
