Joplin sales tax extension, Jasper County tax increase pass

Joplin voters have approved an extension to the ¼-cent sales tax that Joplin citizens passed in 2001 and renewed in 2011. Revenues from the tax have been and will continue to be used to complete parks projects and make stormwater projects in Joplin.

The city says the vote passed with 1,948 yes votes and 503 no votes.

Also Tuesday, Jasper County voters approved an extention to sales tax with a slight increase to improve 9-1-1 and communications in Jasper County for all citizens.

This raises the sales tax rate from 1/10th of (1) percent to
1/4th of (1) percent.

It passed with 2,921 yes votes and 1,110 no votes.
