Resident apprehended after being placed on escape status last Friday

A minimum custody resident of the Wichita Work Release Facility who had been placed on escape status after he walked away from the facility has been apprehended, according to a news release from the Kansas Department of Corrections

Eljay Allen Reinhardt was taken into custody Saturday evening by officials from the Kansas Department of Corrections, Enforcement, Apprehensions & Investigations (EIA) Unit, the Witchita Police Department, and the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Previously, Reinhardy had walked away from the facility on Friday at 11:45 PM after he had not reported for work.

The investigation is ongoing.
