911 Service asks for increase in sales tax at polls tomorrow

The Jasper County Emergency Services Dispatch Board wants voters to approve an increase in sales taxes from a tenth of a percent to a quarter of a percent for that service at the polls tomorrow.

The increase would go to upgrading the public radio system and making sure non-emergency calls to police, EMS and fire departments get through properly.

If approved, it will be the first sales tax tax increase every asked for in almost 30 years for the 911 service.

The tax would be charged on all purchases in Jasper County.
