Driver involved in downtown St. Louis crash charged with involuntary manslaughter

(AP) - A driver accused of running a red light in downtown St. Louis last year and causing a crash that killed a 17-year-old girl has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 26-year-old La'Javion Ramsey, of East St. Louis, was charged Tuesday. Prosecutors say he was driving more than 20 mph over the speed limit when his car hit a pickup truck at a downtown intersection around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 17. Police say 17-year-old Sierra Rubymae Ward-Micke, of De Soto, was in the bed of the truck when the crash happened. She was thrown from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
