An armed robbery took place at Joplin gas station early Monday morning

Early Monday morning, Joplin Police received reports of an Armed Robbery that occurred at the Gulf Gas Station at 5501 E 32nd St.

Reports say a man entered the store wearing a surgical mask, brandished a large machete, and demanded the attendant empty the register.

The suspect fled afterward on foot to the west with an unknown amount of money.

The employee of the station was not injured; security footage of the incident is being reviewed.
