MO state offices closed to celebrate Juneteenth Holiday

Today, consistent with the enactment of a new federal statute and 1 CSR 20-5.010(2)(A) providing for state holidays as designated by law, the Missouri Office of Administration announced that all state offices are closed today to celebrate Juneteenth (June 19th).

Juneteenth is our nation’s new holiday that recognizes an important event in our country's history. It is the nation's first new national holiday in almost forty years.

Juneteenth has been previously recognized by Missouri law in Section 9.161, RSMo, and commemorates the day that slavery came to an end in the United States.

The holiday is being celebrated today because the actual holiday falls on Saturday.
