Man succumbs to injuries he sustained during attempted drowning rescue
The man who attempted to rescue the 12-year-old girl that was swept away by swift waters in Shoal Creek has now died from his injuries.
34-year-old Trevor Hicks was pronounced dead early Tuesday morning after he suffered brain injuries from a lack of oxygen.
Hicks had to be pulled from the water Wednesday afternoon after he tried to rescue Kaylin Brown after she got caught up in the hydraulic current below the dam there at Lime Kiln Park in Neosho.
Her body was recovered Sunday evening after a boat operator from the Mennonite Disaster service spotted Kaylin in the river about 3.25 miles downstream from where she first went missing.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of Hicks and for funeral costs.
