Joplin motorcycle rider injured in Sunday afternoon accident

The collision of a pickup truck and a motorcycle Sunday afternoon on Highway 86, about ½ mile south of Joplin in Newton County resulted in serious injuries to a Joplin man.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a 1999 Chevy 1500 driven by a 17-year-old female juvenile pulled into the path of a 2003 Harley-Davidson operated by 53-year old John D. Kerr of Joplin.

Kerr was transported to Freeman West Hospital with serious injuries.

The juvenile girl was not injured.
