$5k reward offered for info on SEK jail escapees

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the capture of two escapees from the
Cherokee County Kansas Jail. Read the full press release below:

Mark Hopkins and Michael Martsolf escaped the facility in Columbus at 11:00 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021.

Hopkins was being held in connection to a June 2020 double homicide and Martsolf was being held on felony narcotics charges. Both should be considered dangerous.

In addition to conducting numerous interviews and search warrants, authorities have recovered physical evidence as part of their investigation Law Enforcement also recovered the white passenger car which was included in the initial bulletin.

Formal charges of Aggravated Escape From Custody were filed in Cherokee County District Court Tuesday on both suspects.

Law Enforcement from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Highway Patrol, Tri-State Major Case Squad, Federal Bureau of Investigations and the United States Marshal’s Service are actively searching for the two suspects.
